Artist Statement:
This week and last week I really struggled the most in making work then I have in a very long time. I am getting laser removal for my hand tattoo and it made me unable to make any art due to the fact I only had one hand. I was told by multiple professors to take it and roll with it and see what art I could create, but thats not how I can make art. I need to be in the mood and in the right headscpace to actually create art that i simply enjoy looking at or just simply want to create. for the last few days of break and a few days back into the workflow I still was in this "shutdown" I would call it and didnt start getting back into the rea; flow till tuesday almost wedneaday. though I was able to create some wicked things and mastering the airbrush as best as I could over break.

When i was creating these i really wanted to focus on creating final pieces that i will be 100% showing in my show. I wanted the final rug to be different but also show aspects of my own style. Being able to get a tattoo and bring that concept into my work really showed the wide veriety i can do. I enoyed more of this work that ive done in a while and contume to keep doing work like this as best as i can.

Dragon Carpet, Wool (weft and pile); cotton (warp); symmetrically knotted pile
17th Century Rug: This rug represents the village carpet-weaving tradition of the Caucasus that was contemporaneously with court production in Ottoman Turkey and Safavid Iran. While rugs produced in royal workshops had flowing, floral patterns, those from provincial weaving centers retained a strongly geometric character. The motif of highly stylized dragons, which are depicted here, gave the name "Dragon Carpet" to this type of rug which was produced in Trans-Caucasia.

Artist Statement:
When i was creating this rug it was all new to me. I wanted to focus on trying a new style and the idea of making a carpet came to mind. I wanted to focus on creating and trying new ideas from people around me. I was able to contune this learning and create 2 more after this. when coming to learn this craft i wanted to push myself and slowly try to get larger and mlre detailed as best as i could. Its definitely more harder then i expected it to be but after many hours on just this first one i was able to get the hand of it and make two more.

Artist Inspiration:

Camilla Iliefski is a designer and teacher in Sweden. She uses tufting as a visual medium in its own right. Her rugs resemble abstract compositions: large blocks of color, crisp lines, and gentle curves. Her work exhibits a true graphic rigor, but also a sensitivity to materials.

Itsy0r's style is decidedly pop. It features faces, logos, and objects inspired by the internet, all stylized in a flashy palette. Each piece is like a textile illustration: direct, effective, and also funny.

Febuary 27th - More Work

Artist Statement:
When creating my work for this week i really wanted to focus on the prctical and step away from the canvas or paint making as I usally do throughout my week. I found a product on Instagram which is seen above and its basically pellets that turn into platic just with hot water. over time I was able to figure the product out but in the beginning it was more dificult then i thiught it would be. I was able to use tin foil and creat a head and then cover it in the platic and then i would hallow out the middle by cutting it open and taking the tin foil out. this proccess was more difficult then i thought it would be just due to the fact that the platic was so stiff. overall the head came out nice and i used a black light for the middle and might use it for my whole set.
